MapCamp is a free two-day event (plus pre-party) that’s part hackathon and part presentations. It’s for people who love maps, data visualization, working with GIS and/or building mobile apps. If you’re still reading this, you should probably come to MapCamp January 10th-12th in Portland, Oregon at ISITE Design!
For the hackathon, teams of developers and designers — as well as individuals — will try to build the most interesting app with Portland city data in the allotted time. A panel of local judges will choose winners in various categories who’ll go home with some cool prizes.
Not into hacking? That’s okay!
The presentations will be sets of short lightning talks (similar to Ignite) from some developers at Esri’s Portland R&D Center, and lots of people like you doing amazing things with maps. If you’d like to talk about or demo something, give @caseorganic a shout.
There will be a happy hour pre-party, catered lunch or brunch each day, plus drinks, snacks and some surprises along the way.
